The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zaria Unit has declared 3-Day Mourning in honour of late Muntari Ibrahim Gyellesu, a staff of DITV/ Alheri Radio Zaria, who died Thursday Evening, 18th November 2021 in a ghastly accident in Zaria.
A statement jointly signed by the Acting Chairman and Secretary of the union, Comrade Sagir Muhammad Awwal and Comrade Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed described the death of as sudden and shocking.
It also noted with grief the immense contributions made by the deceased in the development of journalism profession especially broadcast media in Zaria and Kaduna state as a whole.
The statement therefore directed members to mourn the demise of the late colleague beginning from Friday,19th 2021.
It further enjoined them to use the period in praying for the repose of the deceased,for Allah"s mercy and forgiveness.
"The vacuum created by his death would be so difficult to fill considering his unmeasurable sacrifices, dedication to duty and wealth of experience in the broadcast Media.
"We pray to Almighty Allah to grant his family and Colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
"Members are to observe 3-day mourning as a mark of honour and respect to late Ibrahim Muntari by engaging in prayers during the period." The statement enjoined.
Recall that late Ibrahim Muntari popularly known as Muntari Gyellesu was the presenter of two weekly programmes on DITV/ Alheri Radio - "Mu Da Jami'an Tsaro" and "Kacici-Kacici.
Aged 42 years, He is survived by a wife, 2 children and aged parent.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rite in his hometown, Zaria.
