The Management of
Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) in Niger, Nigeria has congratulated Hajiya Amina Muhammad on
her re-appointment as the Deputy Secretary of the United Nations.
The UN Secretary
General, António Guterres re-appointed Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed as deputy
Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) after his re-appointment by the UN
General Assembly for the second term on Friday.
The congratulatory
message was contained in a letter signed by the President and Founder of MAAUN,
Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and sent to the UN Deputy Secretary General, Hajiya
Amina Muhammad from Paris on Monday, June 21, 2021.
In the letter, Prof.
Abubakar Gwarzo said Hajiya Amina Muhammad deserved the re-appointment as the
UN Deputy Secretary General in view of her competency and experience as
diplomat, politician and former Nigeria's Minister of Environment, as well as
the special adviser to immediate past UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon on
post-2015 development planning, which focused on the 2030 agenda for
sustainable development goals (SDGs).
"I know Hajiya
Amina Muhammad very well as an iron lady who wants to see peace prevails across
the world, especially her commitment to ensure total eradication of poverty and
illiteracy across the globe as well as to bring to an end insecurity and
violence in the world.
"So, on behalf of
myself and family as well as the Management of MAAUN, I wish to use this
opportunity and congratulate you on your re-appointment as UN Deputy Secretary
General", Prof. Abubakar Gwarzo said.
He prayed to Almighty
Allah to guide her in the discharge of her new assignment and enable her
succeed in all her undertakings while serving at UN and after.
