The Lake Chad Peace & Development Initiative (LCPD) has commissioned a newly established Library and Digital Literacy Center in Bayamari community in Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe state made possible through funding support from ActionAid Nigeria under the Local Rights Programme (LRP).
The commissioning ceremony drew key community and government stakeholders, including the Chairman of Bursari Local Government Area, the Education Secretary, the Village Head of Bayamari, members of the Community Response Action Team (CRAT), students, and other community representatives.
Speaking at the event, dignitaries commended LCPD and ActionAid Nigeria for creating accessible learning spaces that will advance education, digital inclusion, and youth development across the community.
They emphasised the importance of the facilities in improving literacy levels, enhancing digital competencies, and preparing young people to thrive in a technology-driven environment.
After the opening speeches, stakeholders conducted a guided tour of the Library and Digital Literacy Center. The tour highlighted the reading materials, learning resources, and digital tools now available to children, youth, and adults in Bayamari. The new facilities are expected to become a hub for reading culture, digital learning, and community engagement.
The LCPD Programs Manager reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to strengthening education access and expanding community-based learning spaces across LRP communities.
He also expressed appreciation to ActionAid Nigeria for its continuous partnership and investment in transformative community development initiatives.
The establishment of the Library and Digital Literacy Center marks a significant milestone for Bayamari, providing a safe and supportive environment that will enhance learning outcomes and empower students and community members for years to come.
