Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has called on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, to advise other community leaders to be more proactive toward ensuring adequate security in the state.
Mohammed made the call in Bauchi on Wednesday, when the Emir led his council members, district heads and other title holders on a Sallah homage to the governor.
The governor also observed that through the Emir’s interventon, effective solutions could be proffered to some challenges posing a threat to the state, especially, the issue of rape, kidnapping and other vices.
“We are grateful to God, to our traditional rulers, those dead and alive and other leaders particularly, Ulamas and the Clergy.
“We are grateful to you for this visit and we thank God for the gift of leaders like you.
“We are grateful for the support and cooperation we are getting from you and other leaders especially, for the respect for our government and the Federal Government.
“We are calling on you as our leader in Bauchi state, please, continue to admonish all other Emirs and other leaders at all levels to be more proactive.
“Through their proactiveness, we will have adequate security and lasting solutions to the challenges bedeviling us especially, rape, kidnapping and lack of respect.
“These should be corrected so that there will be peace.
“We want to apologise to you for our shortcomings in government, we are imperfect before you as your followers.
“We are happy for the projects you mentioned, and we will continue doing that,” Mohammed said.
The governor further appreciated all the district heads, Imams and Pastors for their fervent prayers which he said, were the reason the residents were living peacefully with one another.
He also said that through their efforts and prayers, Bauchi state had been seen as the most peaceful state in the Northeastern part of the country.
Mohammed appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders for their efforts toward ensuring that there was peace in the country.
He said his administration would continue to support security agencies for continuation of peace enjoyed by the citizenry.
The governor also said that his administration would do all it could to help farmers by providing them with fertilisers and promised to ensure that they were not diverted for personal use.
Earlier, Alhaji Adamu said that the council of traditional rulers were committed to giving the governor the support and advice on how to move the state forward.
The Emir, also the Chairman, Council of traditional rulers in Bauchi state, said, “we want to also commend you for the giant strides and the developmental milestones you have recorded in the past two years of your administration.
“We just have to express more appreciation to you for being proactive day and night, particularly, your support for prayers in mosques and Churches across the state.
“We are also aware of other efforts you have been making to ensure that there is peace and security in this state.
“We pray that God will continue to help you and grant you wisdom at all times,” he said.
